Amy Sanders Library opened to serve Sherwood residents in 1989. In addition to an array of books, DVDs, public computers, and wireless Internet access, the library offers numerous children's programs. Sherwood's Master Gardeners have provided landscaping to accentuate the 9,800-square-feet facility.

Amy Sanders served as Sherwood city clerk for more than 14 years. She was honored in 1988 by having the library named for her.

City and Library Leadership Break Ground on New Facility
Construction Begins on CALS's Sherwood Branch
The Central Arkansas Library System (CALS) and the City of Sherwood will host a groundbreaking ceremony for the future Amy Sanders Library in Sherwood on Wednesday, January 25 at 11:30 a.m. Immediately following the groundbreaking, a reception will be held at the current Amy Sanders Library, 31 Shelby Drive, Sherwood.
The groundbreaking ceremony will include CALS and city leadership, including Nate Coulter, executive director of CALS; Sherwood Mayor Virginia Hillman Young; and the library’s namesake, Amy Sanders.
The new 14,244-square-foot facility will be located on 14 acres at 10200 Johnson Drive. The library’s amenities include three study rooms, a teen area, gallery space, and a 985-square-foot public meeting room. Completion of the new building is set for early 2018.
The North Little Rock architecture firm of TAGGART Architects Inc. provided the building design. Flynco Inc. of Little Rock will provide construction services.
On November 4, 2014, Sherwood voters approved a 1.3 mill personal and property tax increase to issue bonds to fund a new library.
