DIRECTOR OF COMMUNICATIONS – The Central Arkansas Library System is looking for an experienced, results-oriented Director of Communications to join our organization. The Director of Communications is responsible for the planning, development, and implementation of the Central Arkansas Library System’s and the CALS Foundation’s organization strategies, marketing communications, and public relations activities over multiple platforms. The Director of Communications also serves as the Director of Friends of Central Arkansas Library System (FOCAL). Interested candidates should have exceptional writing, editing, and project/time management skills, and be able to help develop effective advertising, marketing, public relations, and branding strategies. A minimum of 5 years’ experience, and a demonstrated track record of success in a communications or public relations role, and a Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, or a related field or equivalent experience are required. BRANCH MANAGER / LIBRARIAN I – The Central Arkansas Library System seeks a manager for the Fletcher Library in Little Rock, AR. An ALA-accredited MLS, or substantial work toward an MLS with the commitment to finish and prior library experience is preferred. Candidates must possess strong customer service skills and enthusiasm for working with a diverse population of all ages. Supervisory, leadership, and project management skills are required, along with an open-minded and progressive approach to library service. Responsibilities include oversight of all daily library operations; hiring, training, supervision & evaluation of staff; and scheduling. Previous supervisory experience is strongly preferred. Knowledge of electronic information services, library technology, and popular library materials is essential. Schedule will include some nights and weekends.. Pages are part-time positions, sorting and shelving materials. Must be able to lift 20 lbs. Must be able to reach all shelving with aid of a kick stool. Must have some knowledge of computers. Evening and Saturday hours may be required. Sunday hours may be required for Main and Children's Library. Spanish language skills preferred. Contact individual location for specifics. $8.50/hr.
