TOOL LIBRARIAN / MAKERSPACE PROGRAMMER / LIBRARY ASSISTANT II – Full-time public service position at the Dee Brown Library. Responsibilities include working with youth and adult programmers to plan and implement creative and technology-focused maker and STEAM programs for children and adults, maintaining a circulating collection of hand and power tools, and working at public-service desks. Familiarity with both physical and digital tools, ability to do instructional assistance, and excellent communication and customer service skills are required. A positive and cooperative attitude and a willingness to work through change are essential. Schedule will include some nights and weekends. College degree in a related field, and Spanish language skills preferred. Starting salary from $11.84/hr. with excellent benefits. LIBRARY ASSISTANT III / ASSISTANT MANAGER – Full time public service position in the Main Library Youth Services Department. Candidate will assist in providing leadership to the staff of the Youth Services Department, troubleshoot and solve problems, and work to set a positive tone within the library and with the staff. Ability to handle problematic behavior situations with ease and a good attitude is essential. Must possess ability to balance a wide array of tasks that range from management and scheduling to patron and staff support, as well as, day to day library operations. Responsibilities include designing, planning, and implementing programs for children, teens, and families. Candidate will provide leadership in program planning and coordination. Previous experience working with children, teens, and groups required. Approach to leadership must be collaborative and team oriented. Familiarity with technology, digital media, ability to do instructional assistance on devices, and excellent communication and customer service skills are required. Familiarity with popular reading and entertainment materials desirable. Some evenings and weekends required. Starting salary $28,600 with excellent benefits. Library Assistant I – Temporary 8 week position (June 12-Aug. 5), part-time 30 hours/week public service position in Youth Services Department and Level 4 Teen Center, Main Library. Responsibilities include checking materials in and out, answering patron questions, registering patrons for library cards, some information searching and shelving. Familiarity with technology, digital media, and excellent communication and customer service skills are required. Must be able to work well with children and teens, and cooperatively with staff and public. Knowledge of children’s literature and experience with children’s programming desirable. LIBRARY PAGE & TEMPORARY POSITIONS
Pages are part-time positions, sorting and shelving materials. Must be able to lift 20 lbs. Must be able to reach all shelving with aid of a kick stool. Must have some knowledge of computers. Evening and Saturday hours may be required. Sunday hours may be required for Main and Children's Library. Spanish language skills preferred. Contact individual location for specifics. $8.50/hr.
