HEAD OF ADULT PROGRAMMING – The Central Arkansas Library System is seeking to fill the Head of Adult Programming position. This position is responsible for the day-to-day oversight of Library efforts to provide programs, events, speakers, and partnerships which respond to patron needs, support library services, enhance CALS mission and goals, and create life-long library users, primarily aimed at an adult audience. The position requires coordination and oversight of adult programmers, and outreach efforts. To qualify, candidates must have a graduate degree and 5 years related experience and/or training, and 3 years related management experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. MLIS or MLS preferred. Additional skills include a high degree of organizational, record-keeping, and time management skills, along with awareness of existing community resources, needs, and interests. LIBRARY ASSISTANT – Part-time, 20-hours/week, public service position at Nixon Library. Responsibilities include checking materials in and out, answering patron questions, registering patrons for library cards, some information searching and shelving. Familiarity with technology, digital media, ability to do instructional assistance on devices, and excellent communication and customer service skills are required. Familiarity with popular reading and entertainment materials desirable. Some evenings and Saturdays required. $10.78/hour with excellent benefits. LIBRARY PAGE & TEMPORARY POSITIONS
Pages are part-time positions, sorting and shelving materials. Must be able to lift 20 lbs. Must be able to reach all shelving with aid of a kick stool. Must have some knowledge of computers. Evening and Saturday hours may be required. Sunday hours may be required for Main and Children's Library. Spanish language skills preferred. Contact individual location for specifics. $9.23/hr.
