Archival Assistant – Based in the Central Arkansas Library System's Butler Center for Arkansas Studies, the Archival Assistant processes manuscript materials and digital resources and has special responsibilities related to Bill Clinton's pre-presidential papers. Undergraduate degree in history or a related field and ability to learn and apply exacting processing methods to the organization and description of traditional and digital materials required, knowledge of Arkansas history preferred. The archival assistant will need to be able to arrange and describe historic documents, photographs, and ephemera; create digital access to materials through the recording of metadata and inclusion in content-management systems; provide assistance to researchers using collections and doing genealogical research; prepare archival materials for storage, safekeeping, and access; and write objective and concise finding aids for collections. Some evening and weekend work required. Salary begins at $31,500. Excellent benefits. Pages are part-time positions, sorting and shelving materials. Must be able to lift 20 lbs. Must be able to reach all shelving with aid of a kick stool. Must have some knowledge of computers. Evening and Saturday hours may be required. Sunday hours may be required for Main and Children's Library. Spanish language skills preferred. Contact individual location for specifics. $8.50/hr.
