Public Relations Specialist – Community Outreach Department – wanted to design, write, and edit materials to promote Central Arkansas Library System branches, departments, and services in digital and print media. Manage CALS' social media strategies. Facilitate exposure of library events and services to CALS patrons and media outlets. Work with the Community Outreach team to coordinate and develop an editorial calendar. Assist with the implementation of library events. Some graphic design required. Ideal candidate must have excellent written and oral communication and organizational skills, and possess at least 2 years related experience in the communications field. Experience in social media and digital marketing and experience using Adobe Creative Suite is a plus. Communications or English degree preferred. Full-time position, $16 per hour, includes excellent benefits. Programming Coordinator – The programming coordinator organizes activities of the CALS (Central Arkansas Library System) Butler Center for Arkansas Studies, including numerous public events, web resources, and a radio program. This person coordinates all aspects of Butler Center events, including booking and working with speakers and performers, maintains the Butler Center mailing list database, maintains website and Facebook content, helps create a newsletter, sends email and social media notifications, works with CALS Community Outreach staff members regarding message strategies, helps produce the weekly Radio CALS broadcast and related podcasts, and works with other Butler Center staff members on various initiatives. Bachelor's degree and experience in events and web-based resources preferred; ability to prioritize tasks and work collaboratively as well as independently and excellent writing skills required; familiarity with Arkansas history and geography extremely helpful. Full-time position. $27,000 plus benefits. Library Assistant I – part-time 20 hours/week public service position at Thompson Library. Responsibilities include ordering and managing branch supplies, mending of print materials and regular updates to materials database, answering patron questions, checking materials in and out, registering patrons for library cards, some information searching and shelving. Familiarity with technology, digital media, and excellent communication and customer service skills are required. Familiarity with popular reading and entertainment materials desirable. LIBRARY PAGE & TEMPORARY POSITIONS
Pages are part-time positions, sorting and shelving materials. Must be able to lift 20 lbs. Must be able to reach all shelving with aid of a kick stool. Must have some knowledge of computers.
