Youth Programmer - Music Specialist/ Library Assistant II – Children’s Library seeks an energetic, youth-focused candidate with skills or experience related to teaching or performing music. Knowledge or experience with recording or music/video editing is desired. Ideal candidates will have the ability to design and present music-related programs for a variety of age groups as well as the ability to work cooperatively with organizations and presenters to utilize the performance and recording spaces in the library. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily. A qualified applicant must have the equivalent of a four year college degree, plus 5 years related experience and/or training, and 5 years related management experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. The successful candidate will have excellent written and verbal communication skills and superb organizational skills. The person must also have the ability to present information effectively to management, public groups, and boards of directors. LIBRARIAN I / BRANCH MANAGER – Hillary Rodham Clinton Children's Library and Learning Center
– The Central Arkansas Library System is seeking a team-oriented, experienced librarian to lead our Children’s Library and Learning Center. The facility and extensive grounds include a theater, teaching kitchen, greenhouse, garden and urban farming space, a recording studio, and areas for making/tinkering and hands-on learning in addition to the more traditional library spaces. The library serves a diverse population from across the city. Candidates must possess strong customer service and interpersonal skills and an enthusiasm for working with people of all ages and backgrounds. Responsibilities include administering day-to-day library operations; training, supervising, and evaluating staff; overseeing and coordinating extensive programming offerings for children and teens; and outreach to the community. Knowledge of children's literature and experience working with children is essential. An ALA-accredited MLS or comparable degree, or significant work towards such a degree, is required. Must be able to work well with children and teens and cooperatively with staff and public. Familiarity with children’s literature and experience with children’s programming desirable.
