Central Arkansas Library System (CALS) added another opportunity for patrons to continue lifelong learning at their local library. Starting June 12, Lynda.com will be available to library card holders through the library’s website and at all CALS libraries.
Lynda.com is an online learning company with more than 3,000 courses and more than 130,000 videos from web design, business, and media production to computer basics, including Microsoft Office. Lynda is typically available through a paid subscription, but CALS cardholders will get access to Lynda’s content for free.
Patrons can access Lynda.com by logging in through the library’s website with their library card and pin numbers. They can watch any videos, create playlists, download course files and bookmark pages.
Lynda is the latest addition to CALS already extensive list of digital resources, which includes various research databases, e-books, and Universal Class, self-paced and instructor-led courses in more than 30 subjects.
CALS also offers free technology and digital learning classes at the Main Library, 100 Rock Street, Little Rock. Classes include, but are not limited to, Internet Safety for Parents, Library Resources for the Job Hunt, Avoiding Identity Theft and Scams, Android Mobile Devices, Apple Mobile Devices, and will now include assistance on navigating Lynda.com.
