What is the Summer Reading Club (SRC)?
Summer Reading Club is a seven-week program that celebrates and encourages reading. Each branch will host weekly programs for kids and teens. Participants can register and receive SRC materials, attend weekly programs at any of the branches, and attend special events and celebrations throughout the summer.
Is there a calendar or schedule of events available?
A printable (.pdf) version of the calendar is available here »
Is there required reading to participate?
There is no required reading to participate in Summer Reading Club. When you register, you will receive a reading log, where you can record the books you read this summer. We will also be playing a Bingo game all summer where reading certain kinds of books can help you to win prizes.
When and where does the SRC meet?
Summer Reading Club kicks off with a celebration, Library Night @ the Arkansas Travelers, on June 10 at 10:30 am. Weekly programs at all branches begin the week of June 14 and end the week of July 27. We will have a party celebrating the end of Summer Reading Club at the Clinton Presidential Library August 1 at 10:30 am.
Is there a fee to register or attend?
All library programs are free.
Is there an age limit for registration?
Babies, toddlers, kids, teens and adults can all register and participate in Summer Reading Club.
Do I need a library card to register?
To pre-register online, a library card is required. We encourage everyone who registers to sign up for a library card, but children and teens under the age of 18 can register for SRC using a parent's library card.
I have a library card, but my son/daughter does not. Do I need to get him/her a library card?
We encourage SRC participants to sign up for library cards, but that is the parents' choice. As long as a parent has a library card, the child is not required to have one.
Can I attend SRC at any branch library?
If you are registered for SRC, you can attend any of our programs at any library. We do recommend that you follow the age suggestions for each program.
Do I need to attend the SRC at the same branch each week?
You can attend programs at any of our branches. Some of the programs or presenters will travel to all the branches, so we advise that you check the calendars for each branch to avoid seeing the same program twice.
I cannot attend the weekly programs. Can I still be a part of Summer Reading Club?
Program attendance is not required to be a part of SRC! You can register and receive your book bag and reading log. When you come into the library this summer to check out books, you can collect weekly stickers and play SRC Bingo.
