Minimum Appearance Standards

Central Arkansas Library System (CALS) employees at their places of employment represent the institution to the public. Therefore, the public’s impression of CALS is often determined not only by the professional and courteous level of service provided by members of the staff, but also by the personal appearance of the employees. Proper attire reflects well on the library and on individual staff members.

This policy authorizes and requires the Executive Director of CALS to develop and enforce minimum appearance standards for all employees. It encourages all supervisors to develop the habit of dressing above the minimum standards to set examples for other employees.
